A Delayed Certificate of Birth is created when a registrant's birth has not been filed before the first birthday. The State Office of Vital Records requires very specific evidence to create this document.
Once the application is submitted to the State Office of Vital Records, processing time for Delayed Birth Certificates is approximately 4-6 weeks.
All documents should be certified and show the date the original record was created by whom. Records provided must show registrant's full name and date of birth. At least 2 of the provided records must show the child was born in Georgia. At least 1 record must show both parents' full names and the mother's full maiden name, if applicable.
First, you must complete a Department of Vital Records application and provide all documentary evidence to submit with the application. We will submit the application on your behalf for a cost of $25.00.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently NOT accepting cash. We are accepting Visa, MasterCard, American Express Credit/Debit Cards (a card processing fee will apply to all credit/debit card payments), local Henry County Checks (must be over check number 500), and Money Orders.
