Effective 10/4/2021, we are now accepting online appointments for new gun permit applications and renewal appointments.  Thank you for your patience as we were able to move up more than 3500 appointments.  Please complete your application online and then request your appointment by following the link on our website and entering the confirmation number given after completing your application.  Please make sure to bring all required documentation to your appointment.   Check the New Permits section for list of required documentation.


 

If you are a renewal and are unable to schedule an appointment online within 90 days before expiration or 30 days after, please call our office at (770)288-7601,  so we can schedule your appointment.

 

 

If you need to change your address or name on your current permit or you need a replacement permit, please click here for more information.  Replacement permits can now be requested by mail or drop-box.

 

Requirements for applicants born INSIDE the United States

*NOTE: If Applicant still holds a Driver's License from another state, Applicant must get a Georgia Driver's License or Georgia State-Issued Identification Card before applying.

  1. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Applicants under the age of 21 are eligible for a permit if:
      • they are at least 18 years of age,
      • they have proof that he/she have completed basic training in the United States armed forces, and
      • they are currently serving or have been honorably discharged from the United States armed forces (documentation will be required).
         
  2. Applicant must reside in Henry County.  The applicant must present proof of their residence in Henry County which can be accomplished in one of two ways:
    • Produce a valid Georgia Driver's License or state-issued identification card that reflects a Henry County, Georgia physical address; or
    • Prove that the applicant is domiciled in Henry County, which can be achieved by providing two documents linking the Applicant's name with a Henry County physical address.
      • At least 1 of the documents provided must be a current (within the last 2 months) utility bill associated with a residence or a property tax bill, real estate deed, lease agreement, voter's registration, car registration, etc.
      • 1 document can be a bank statement, credit card bill, cell phone bill, etc.
    • If the applicant has a P.O. Box listed on their driver's license, they must provide at least 2 documents showing their name and Henry County address.
      • At least 1 of the documents provided must be a current (within the last 2 months) utility bill associated with a residence or property tax bill, real estate deed, lease agreement, voter's registration, car registration, etc.
      • 1 document can be a bank statement, credit card bill, cell phone bill, etc.

Requirements for applicants born OUTSIDE the United States

  3. Applicant must provide a secondary form of identification. Acceptable documents are:
    • Certificate of Naturalization
    • U.S. Passport
    • Permanent Resident Card, or
    • Birth Certificate of U.S. Citizen Born Abroad

Fees

  • New Permits: $78.00 (non-refundable)
  • Renewal Permits: $30.00 (non-refundable)
  • Replacement Permits: $6.00 (non-refundable)
  • Retired Law Enforcement Permits: $7.00 (non-refundable)
