Requirements for applicants born INSIDE the United States

  1. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Applicants under the age of 21 are eligible for a permit if:
      • they are at least 18 years of age,
      • they have proof that he/she have completed basic training in the United States armed forces, and
      • they are currently serving or have been honorably discharged form the United States armed forces (documentation will be required).
         
  2. Applicant must reside in Henry County.  The applicant must present proof of their residence in Henry County which can be accomplished in one of two ways:
    • If they have lived at their current address more than 60 days, their correct Henry County residence address must be on their Driver's License, or
    • Only if they have moved to their current address within the past 60 days, they can provide at least 2 other documents showing their name and current Henry County address.
      • At least 1 of the documents provided must be a current (within the last 2 months) utility bill associated with a residence or a property tax bill, real estate deed, lease agreement, voter's registration, car registration, etc.
      • 1 document can be a bank statement, credit card bill, cell phone bill, etc.
    • If the applicant has a P.O. Box listed on their driver's license, they must provide at least 2 documents showing their name and Henry County address.
      • At least 1 of the documents provided must be a current (within the last 2 months) utility bill associated with a residence or property tax bill, real estate deed, lease agreement, voter's registration, car registration, etc.
      • 1 document can be a bank statement, credit card bill, cell phone bill, etc.

Requirements for applicants born OUTSIDE the United States

  1. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Applicants under the age of 21 are eligible for a permit if:
      • they are at least 18 years of age,
      • they have proof that he/she have completed basic training in the United States armed forces, and

  3. Applicant must provide a secondary form of identification. Acceptable documents are:
    • Certificate of Naturalization
    • U.S. Passport
    • Permanent Resident Card, or
    • Birth Certificate of U.S. Citizen Born Abroad

Requirements for applicants who are active duty military

  1. Applicant must provide a copy of his/her orders.
  2. Applicant must reside in Henry County. The applicant must present proof of their residence in Henry County which can be accomplished one of two ways:
    • Their correct Henry County residence address must be on their driver's license, or
    • They can provide at least 2 other documents showing their name and current Henry County address.
      • At least 1 of the documents provided must be a current (within the last 2 months) utility bill associated with a residence or a property tax bill, real estate deed, lease agreement, voter's registration, car registration, etc.
      • 1 document can be a bank statement, credit card bill, phone bill, etc.
    • If the applicant has a P.O. Box listed on their driver's license, they must provide 2 other documents showing their name and current Henry County address.
      • At least 1 of the documents provided must be a current (within the last 2 months) utility bill associated with a residence or a property tax bill, real estate deed, lease agreement, voter's registration, car registration, etc.
      • 1 document can be a bank statement, credit card bill, phone bill, etc.

  • New Permits - $74.00 (non-refundable)
  • Renewal Permits - $40.00 (non-refundable)
  • Replacement Permits - $6.00 (non-refundable)
  • Retired Law Enforcement Permits - $7.00 (non-refundable)
